I make these cookies every year and they are a family tradition. We call them „Plätze vom Blech“ and they are more like a very small but very buttery piece of rich cake and definitely the ones ( out of a box of many different kinds) that are gone at first !
250g high quality dark chocolate
a pinch of salt
150g dark chocolate couverture
Coarsely chop the dark chocolate. Beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until white and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix on high speed. Use a wooden spoon to fold in the flour, salt and chopped chocolate.
Spread on a baking sheet (about 35×45 cm, using a baking paper or silk mat) at 200°C for about 20-25 minutes.
Melt the couverture in a bain marie and spread it over the warm cake.
With a big knife, cut in 4×4 cm pieces when still warm.
